IPA - Tropical IPA (KEG)

As its name would suggest, this beer might surprise you. It’s so good that grown men have been known to demonstrate domestic prowess in the home, just to nip out for a pint (or two…) of this beautiful, hoppy, India Pale Ale

George Anson

Stout & Porter - Oatmeal Stout (KEG)

George Anson, also known as The Admiral, you can almost hear his footsteps getting louder and louder as he approaches the White Swan or in those days, was referred to as ‘The Mucky Duck’ as he rounds up his men who, once they have sobered up are responsible for sailing him and his Royal ship round the world – it took four years!Well thank goodness you won’t have to wait 4 years for your next pint of Stout.

Island City

IPA – Traditional IPA (Keg)

With Portsmouth being the UK’s only ‘island city’ we’ve captured this uniqueness as the name for our traditional India Pale Ale with its unique recipe.

English Style Ale - Best Bitter (Cask)

A tribute to this historical pub which was designed in the early 1900s for the (now closed) Brickwoods Brewery. This grade II listed building was previously home to ‘The White Swan’ though locals affectionately referred to it as ‘The Mucky Duck’! A refreshing session bitter with some caramel malt flavour and gentle hoppiness.

English Style Ale - Blond Ale (Cask)

Smooth, strong, adored by everyone, the other ‘great blonde’ with a fabulous body, home grown here in Portsmouth. This world-class blonde beer is a fitting tribute to our very own world-class swimming talent Katy Sexton MBE.

Best Bitter

This ale stands up to the strongest critics, which is why we have had so much fun in naming it after Sir John Harvey Jones AKA ‘Troubleshooter’, presenter of the BBC’s BAFTA award-winning series of the 90’s ‘Troubleshooter’. Not known for mincing his words was John, and at one point was highly critical of Brickwood Brewery’s most popular ale, but we don’t mince our words either, this ale is bloody brilliant, eat your heart out John!

Matcham's Glory

Matcham's Glory

Amber Bitter

We have been inextricably linked to the theatre in Portsmouth since 1854 when the then licensee of the ‘White Swan’, an ex travelling circus owner, decided to lease the hall next door and turn it into a theatre to which the middle classes would come to be entertained….. Fast forward to modern day and the theatre continues to entertain and with its splendid complete refurbishment and part re-build carried out from 2013 – 2015, it is now restored to its former glory – a project of which even Matcham (the theatre’s original architect) would be proud!

Rockingham Pale

Rockingham Pale

American Style Ale - American Pale (KEG)

Enjoy a pint of this simple Pale Ale with truck loads of piney, grapefruity American hops and raise a refreshing glass to our American cousins – you could almost believe you were in a brewpub in Portsmouth, Rockingham, USA!

Guildhall

Guildhall

5.0%
English Style Ale

The wonderful neo-classical styled concert, wedding and conference venue of Portsmouth’s Guildhall has facilitated many a wonderful evening of entertainment and is probably etched in the memories of generations of Pomey residents. A great tribute to our equally popular Kolsch style Ale.

Project Cask - Heritage

Project Cask - Heritage

Heritage Ale

Everyone knows the world’s most hand-crafted beer is cask ale and in order to brew great cask ale, it takes a lot of fussing over; will react badly to being brewed on a large scale so epitomises artisan, small-batch beer; is very temperamental about where it lives -like a very discerning house guest it likes comfort and just the right temperature, which is why it is just so hard to make! But when you are served a freshly poured, well-handled cask ale, with its character flavour which our brewer has teased out of their favourite yeast, it’s a marvel! Project Cask has been created to allow the flair and expertise of our brewers to shine through. Changing each season, you will have the opportunity to taste amazing cask ales, from amazing ambers, to aged-old resurrected recipes, to the fruitiest pale ales or iconic porters, and it’s a great opportunity to invite guests to join you on your inaugral brew day!
